Newsletter: 90 for February 2004 We had another good evening at the ACES in January with a bit of everything. Magic of course, Interviews, Quizzes and above all some fun. First of all we all signed a get well card to Pat who was having problems with her chest and she landed up in hospital. She is now home and a lot better and she and Bob hope to be at the next meeting. We then went onto the usual monthly challenge trophy competition. Dave was on first with a Dozy Cat in a top hat and had a change over to Snowy the clown. Brenda came on with her black cat on a red brick wall, its tail disappeared and then came back but with a different colour tail – all was restored in the end though. Brenda just won the competition but there was only one point in it, Mike Pettitt immediately challenged her for next month with a penetration trick – we look forward to it. Stan came on with every sign of things being really organised – on behalf of the Southdown Magic society he invited our members to a lecture on the 4th of February to see lecturer Don Simpson. We then had some quizzes, teams were settled down, five to table – the numbers one was tricky! Given another day at it we might have had some success! After the interval we had two interviews – one by Stan asking questions to Mike Pettitt and then the roles were reversed by Mike asking Stan the questions. At the end of Mikes interview , Mike performed a bottle prediction effect with Martin finishing up with the predict lager bottle! At the end of Stan being interviewed Stan did the Louis Histed Chinese linking chain effect where the linked chain was stolen and lost its power – the links were separate and then the chain was restored. He also did a version of “PRINTING” an he finished up with a good card in 2 envelops effect. Thanks Stan for an interesting evening. The next meeting is on FEBRUARY 11th and it is the CLOSE UP COMPETITION. Already there were 2 or 3 people who said they were hopefully going in for it but we need to make sure we have enough competitors, so please do something – ALL OF YOU!
