Newsletter: 88 for December 2003 Christmas is coming and the baby’s not washed! Yes the next meeting is the Christmas party on December 10th and you are all welcome to bring your family and friends along to a super night. The first part of the evening will be run by Mike Pettitt and the second half after the food and drinks will be table hopping. Mike Elvin has got some promises from the members to do this but please bring something along to do in case you are needed or even if you just want to do something. The challenge trophy competition will be a rematch between Brenda and Peter again as they were so close together it was a drawn match. Brenda Did the classic silk trick, Sympathetic Silks and Peter did the egg bag again a well known classic. As it is nearly Christmas the subject will also be Christmas! Nearly everybody did something at the ’Favourites’ evening. Mike Elvin started off with Dizzy Spots the it was the other Mike, that is Mike Pettitt doing a twin pack card trick producing the Aces, then finding 4 selected cards with a newspaper cutting effect . Dave Pattenden went through his 3 rope and note routine and followed it with a card story, Sam The Bellhop , that is his rendition of it! Stan did the classic Dye Box for the children amongst us and us! Then the classic Linking rings in a clever comedy style. Geoff performed his coins to glass. Excellent coin manipulations thrown in between. The second half started off with David Bowden sitting down doing some well presented card tricks. Brenda did several versions of Pavel’s ribbons and Cone. Bob Rickard did his famous Card spelling and dealing trick. Zac did a card in wallet effect under a silk. Robin did his Swords through coin effect. Reg Moores finished it all off doing a coin spinning effect. A report on the dinner in the next issue. Looking forward to seeing you all on December 10th – it’s the last meeting of the year and the new year promises to be even better. Stan told me that his evening in January will be unforgettable!
