Newsletter: 77 for January 2003 Happy New Year to all the members of the ACES and to those who attend as Friends and Family and Prospective new members. We helped to see the New Year in at the last meeting it was a great evening thanks to a lot of hard work put in by Reg Parker and his wife Ann, they both did a lot of preparation for it and it all went very smoothly Thank you Ann and Reg , you did a good job ! We musn`t forget the other two stalwarts. Pat and Bob our faithful supporters they did a lot in the kitchen unseen to most of the members and helped a good deal in setting up the marvelous array of food and drink nothing was too much for them Thanks to both of you Oh and there were other willing helpers as well such as Robin for getting the booze though I must say he made a good effort at winning the `cock up` trophy outright for next year even after I had rung him about making sure there were going to be raffle tickets available he`d forget his head if 9t was loose! it didn`t matter in the end though I noticed that those who had been lucky in buying some to start with were busy selling tickets to those who missed out initially. Thanks Rob! Thank you to Martin who was on form doing the actual raffle draw I did alright what a lovely surprise there was in the tall red carrier bag! Christmas comes but once a year! Thanks to all those who helped put up the chairs and tables etc etc. Thanks to all members who brought along food and raffle prizes etc it was a good feast! Of course we had the usual games to start with ably run by Reg, then we had the tea break which broke my dieting rules completely ! After that Reg came on to entertain us and although I saw the 1st trick with ropes I then did my bit of helping in the kitchen and clearing up so unfortunately I missed the other magic we didn`t even have time for the challenge trophy again next time perhaps. By the way look out for another Robin next time! Next time is on JANUARY 8 th its the earliest it can be in the month always the second Wednesday. We will be entertained by the Sussex Magic Circle President Mike Pettitt and possibly helped by his companion Brenda starting at 8.00 pm Don`t miss it as Mike has a wealth of knowledge and I have seen him work before ! Malcolm`s new address is: Malcolm Russell , 4 Grain Court, Junction Rd, Kirkwall KW15 1AX. Martin Breese also attended the party and hopefully we wil be seeing him again soon there is a promise of doing at least half an evening from him a talk or something next year! ALL OF YOU HAVE A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR. Answers for last months crossword. ![]() Written by: John Taylor |
